Feel free to use these badges however you feel they best help you represent your authentic work. If you feel so inclined, we'd love it if you link back to our page, to let everyone know what this is all about, and to help other creators find us, but it's not a requirement.
Our only requirements are that the work you are attributing the badge with is, indeed human-made, and not created using AI, nor is it taken from another creator.
We understand "AI" can be a pretty broad term, and there are non-harmful tools that call themselves "AI" these days. Because of this we want to clarify that using editing (non-generative) or grammar tools, accessibility tools, and tools that don't take the creator out of the process in any way are perfectly acceptable. In general, we feel that GenAI has no place in the creative process.

Who are these badges for?
They could be a creator or they may just value the arts and want to let people know that they are an ally. Feel free to use them in the footer of a website, displayed on a product listing, on social media (even as a profile pic), or however else you feel it makes sense.
Who are you to tell me not to use AI?
We aren't telling anyone what to do or not do. We are providing a solution to creators to differentiate their content from AI-created content. We feel that the further removed art is from human-created, the further we drift from being human.
But... What if I can't create art without AI?
First of all, you can. Talent comes with focus and practice. It comes with hard work. Saying that people are just "born with talent" discourages late-comers from picking up an art. It also belittles those who've devoted their lives to their art, or put other countless hours into it. Anyone is capable of creating art with their human hands.
Second, we don't believe that AI can create art. Art has to have meaning. Nothing that a computer creates could ever have meaning, because a computer cannot feel and isn't capable of understanding.
Why are you so against progress?
We're not! We actually are completely for progress. We wish that what we were seeing was progress, but it's not. We'd love to see more focus on accessibility tools, tools that improve quality of life, and things that otherwise make humanity better.
Why not force people to tag their AI creations instead?
We would love to do this, but unfortunately, this isn't something we have the ability to influence. So the alternative is to give a way for those who create without AI to mark their work as such.
Aren't there enough badges for those who didn't use AI?
Maybe. We just weren't happy with the ones that we found, and there were others that we didn't want to associate our work with, as they were ultimately pro-AI, so we created these.
What if I want a different badge or a bigger size?
In the future, we may release a way to contact us for badge requests. Whether that is altering the content on the badge, or the symbols and colors is to be determined.
We may also provide the .eps files in the future to those who need to print bigger badges.
So who is the artist behind the badges?
These badges were created by Sarah Camp, a designer in Pennsylvania. She used Affinity Design to create the vector illustration of the brain and assemble the badges, and used Avenir New for the typeface.
